A day in Rotterdam
Rotterdam is the second largest city in the Netherlands, after Amsterdam.  It’s located in the western part of the country and also houses the largest port in Europe.  Rotterdam is also the major port where many Europeans left for America to escape religious persecution. Jarno and I drove into Rotterdam and parked the car at his sister, Marielle’s apartment and we took our bikes and...

The simple things...
The one thing about moving to a new country where you do not speak the seemingly “alien” language is that even the simplest of tasks can be daunting.  For those of you that have problems with grocery shopping in a European country (in my case Holland), know that all of the fresh foods - produce, meats, breads, dairy, etc., are located on the outer edges of the supermarket.  The aisles...

Lago di Garda
Lago di Garda is located in Northern Italy and is the country’s largest lake.  It is located between Venice and Milan.  We drove from Austria to Italy and decided to go to Venice and then Lago di Garda. For those of you that plan on going to Italy, please avoid Venice.  It is a tourist trap.  It costs 12 Euros pp on the ferry for one day, or 25 Euros pp for a 3 day pass.  At most you will...

We made our way as far as we could driving and then began an hour...

Zell Am See
There is a town nearby where we are staying where they have a weekly Summer Festival called Seefest with lots of bands playing and tons and tons of Weissbier, Jarno’s drink of choice. As we were driving back from the festival on our scooter, we thought a little bird flew into us.  Jarno took out the camera while we were driving so we could document this. It turned out to be a baby...

Roadtrip!
On Tuesday, we left IJsselstein and started driving towards Austria, the first leg of our vacation road trip.  We drove 600km through Germany and stopped in the early evening in Hochstadt.  I don’t know how to drive manual, so Jarno did all of the driving.  I spent most of the ride doing this: And feeding Jarno this: As you can see, I’m not a very good navigator, especially...
