Jarno and I got back to NYC on Saturday. It has been so great to be back home and see my family and friends. We’re here to celebrate the holidays with our family, take a little road trip to Canada, and do some wedding planning.
We have been running around meeting with vendors for the last few days. I was really sad at the start of it all because I always thought that when planning my wedding, my mother would be physically there with us. Although, now that Jarno and I are going through everything, I feel like my mom is there watching over us. I can’t even begin to say how lucky I am to have such a supportive man in my life, Jarno has really been there for me emotionally these last few days. It has also been a great bonding experience for Jarno and I, figuring out what we want as we go along and coming up with new and fun ideas for our wedding.
Jarno jokes that I am a terrible guide though because we haven’t gotten a chance to sight see and see all of the fantastic holiday decorations up in the city. Time Out NY has an awesome guide for 101 things to in NYC in the Winter. I think if the weather holds up (it has been wonderfully sunny but cold) we are going to rent bicycles and ride around Manhattan.
Funnily enough though, I am noticing things that I miss about my new home in the NL. I miss my bike - a LOT. I miss the convenience of being to just cycle everywhere. Jarno and I have been driving and taking public transportation everywhere and I feel like we save so much time at home when we are biking. Plus it’s healthier!
I love being back in NYC though because I know where everything is, I can get us around in Manhattan without a map and I know which subways we need to take.
We had a great dinner with friends last night at the Peking Duck House in Chinatown. For a HUGE meal and drinks for 15 people, it came out to about $44/per person. We started with a hot and sour soup, an appetizer plate with spare ribs, shrimp balls, and spring rolls. We then had Peking Duck, a Peking Duck Stir Fry, Sea Bass, Garlic Chicken, Prawn Stir Fry, and Shrimp Fried Rice. It was fantastic to have some good old Chinese food along with my friends. A great way to kick off the holiday season and catch up with everyone over food and fantastic conversation.
Happy Holidays everyone!!!!!
